Position: Legal
Secretary
Overview:
Working under the supervision of the Office Services Manager, a Legal
Secretary performs a variety of administrative duties. This is a
non-exempt level position, represented by the bargaining unit.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
§
Prepare accurate and timely transcription, word processing projects
and court documents from various recorded mediums.
§
Implement expungement services and serve as liaison between the
office and former clients.
§
Train and orient staff members in the use of computer procedures,
office equipment, and how to access electronic forms and templates.
§
Prepare, update and maintain legal documents in the form bank.
§
Provide backup for Office Assistants as directed.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
§
Must be proficient in MS word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, and the
Internet.
§
Must be able to type at least 50 words per minute.
§
Must have good command of the English language; oral and written.
§
Work requires continual attention to detail in composing, typing and
proofing materials, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines.
§
Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept
direction on given assignments.
§
Some analytical ability is required in order to find solutions to
various administrative problems and prioritize work.
§
Must have knowledge of secretarial, office administrative
procedures, and knowledge of use and operation of standard office
equipment, at a level generally acquired through 2+ years related
experience.
Education and/or Experience:
§
High school diploma or GED.
§
At least 2 years of general secretarial experience.
§
Secretarial schooling or equivalent preferred but not required.
§
Experience in dealing effectively with people of widely divergent
backgrounds.
